Job summary

Yavapai County is seeking a Court Security Officer to ensure safety in courtrooms and support a judge and staff. The role includes maintaining order, responding to emergencies, escorting individuals, and managing court files in a fast-paced environment.

Required are a high school diploma and at least 1 year in security or related fields; AZ driver’s license; completion of Court Security Officer Academy within 90 days; annual COJET training compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant security/ court-related experience requested.
• Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
• Must complete Court Security Officer Academy within 90 days of hire.
• Comply with AZ COJET training and Code of Conduct for Judicial Employees annually.

Responsibilities

• Maintain security and order in the courtroom and assist public, witnesses, attorneys, and jurors.
• Prepare and submit incident reports and security sweep reports.
• Provide backup to armed court security staff; operate metal detectors and screening equipment.
• Escort individuals to and from the courtroom and respond to emergencies.
• Retrieve and manage court files; track files and calendar information.
• Set up courtroom for daily use and prepare for jury trials, instruct jurors.
• Answer phones and distribute copies; maintain office supply inventory.
• Arrange county vehicle travel; load/unload files and drive as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
