Job summary

The State of Maine Judicial Branch is seeking certified law enforcement officers to become Deputy Judicial Marshals in York Judicial Center and Biddeford. The role focuses on providing a safe and secure experience for judges, staff, participants, and the public while maintaining a full-time schedule.

Starting pay ranges from $25.72 to $34.88 per hour, with benefits including holidays, vacation, sick leave, health and dental insurance, pension, and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Eligible for certification as a Judicial Marshal through Maine CJ Academy or sponsor possible.
• Ability to interact effectively with judges, court staff, attorneys, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Judicial Marshal for the court, ensuring security for each court day and session.
• Enforce Maine laws within the courthouse, monitor surveillance, and operate entry screening equipment.
• Monitor entrypoint activities and movements of persons in the courtroom.
• Assist with court paperwork flow between judges, clerks, defendants, and participants.
• patrol public areas of court facilities and respond to emergencies.
