Job summary

Oregon Judicial Department in Bend is seeking a Courtroom Clerk (Judicial Assistant) to support the judge by preparing judgments, orders, and forms, and by recording court proceedings, managing exhibits, and coordinating courtroom logistics.

You will also handle drafting and processing various court documents, scheduling, and researching materials for the judge and parties involved. The role includes a 5% bilingual skills allowance and potential salary advancement with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• The candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• AND At least three (3) years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
• OR Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience that supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

Responsibilities

• In the courtroom, you will support the judge by preparing judgments, orders, and forms.
• Record court proceedings, monitor the recording system, and create detailed log notes.
• Manage court exhibits.
• Prepare the courtroom and the jury room, set up conference calls, and troubleshoot recording equipment and multimedia systems.
• Draft, prepare, and process a variety of documents including correspondence, opinions, decisions, judgments, notices, jury instructions, court orders, pleadings, and verdicts.
• Answer phone calls, maintain calendars, schedule proceedings, and send mass mailings.
• Conduct research for the judge, attorneys, state agencies, and pro se litigants on topics such as financial data and case management.
