The Deschutes County Circuit Court in Bend, Oregon, is hiring a Court Recorder (Court Operations Associate).
In this role, you will spend most of your time in a courtroom. You will record court proceedings, monitor the recording system while it is in use, and create detailed log notes. You will set up video and telephone conferencing, play DVDs and VHS tapes, and monitor attorneys’ use of PowerPoint presentations. You will also troubleshoot technical issues with recording equipment, multimedia systems, wireless hookups, and assisted listening devices.
Additionally, you will swear in witnesses and jurors, prepare jury seating charts, take juror attendance, and provide safety instructions in the event of an emergency. You will screen phone calls, schedule court dates, and verify that fees have been paid. You will perform real-time data entry, look up information related to cases, and prepare a variety of orders, judgments, documents, and forms. You will process and return exhibits. You will also coordinate with staff at county offices, state agencies, and the Oregon State Hospital.
You will spend part of your time helping with training, providing backup coverage for the Judicial Assistant, preparing courtrooms and jury rooms, and ordering and maintaining office supplies and equipment.
Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.
The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
AND
At least three (3) or more years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
OR
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
