Job summary

The Deschutes County Circuit Court in Bend, Oregon, is seeking a Judicial Assistant (Courtroom Clerk) to support the judge by preparing judgments, orders, and forms, recording proceedings, and managing exhibits.

Beyond courtroom duties, you will draft and process a variety of documents, maintain calendars, schedule hearings, and conduct targeted research for the judge, attorneys, state agencies, and litigants. Strong attention to detail and clear written communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience performing clerical tasks with strict deadlines in a busy setting.
• Ability to maintain accuracy amid interruptions and distractions.
• Proficient using computers to enter data, look up accounts/cases, and schedule events.
• Strong customer service skills for interactions with diverse individuals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare judgments, orders, forms, and other court documents.
• Record court proceedings and monitor the recording system.
• Manage court exhibits, jury seating, and juror attendance.
• Draft, prepare, and process correspondence, decisions, and notices.
• Schedule proceedings, answer phone calls, and conduct research for the judge.
