Job summary

City of Lake Forest Park seeks a Transport Officer (0.4 FTE / 16 hours weekly) to safely move detainees between facilities and the court and to maintain security during court proceedings.

The role requires a valid WA driver’s license, an appropriate academy certification, and successful completion of required background checks. Training in CPR/First Aid is required within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of corrections or law enforcement experience.
• Must be 21 years old upon hire.
• Basic Law Enforcement/Corrections/Reserve Academy certification; decertified officers not eligible.
• Valid Washington State Driver’s License and ability to maintain insurability with the City.
• CPR, First Aid & AED certification within six months of hire.
• Must pass comprehensive background investigation, psychological evaluation, pre-employment medical exam and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Move detained individuals and inmates between facilities and the court for hearings.
• Maintain security of defendants, counsel, and court staff during hearings.
• Serve arrest warrants and arrest judicially remanded defendants.
• Position is a specially commissioned peace officer subject to Civil Service certification.
