Job summary

The State of Maine Judicial Branch seeks a Corporal Deputy Judicial Marshal to supervise deputies in the absence of the Sergeant and to ensure safety for judges, staff, jurors, and the public across Maine courts. The role requires travel to multiple locations, readiness for night/weekend shifts, and coordination of security operations at trials and emergencies.

Applicants must have a high school diploma, 3 years of relevant experience, and must complete the Maine CJ Academy training, firearms

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school (or GED). Three (3) years of experience as a full time Deputy Judicial Marshal or similar relevant experience.
• College coursework or advanced supervisory law enforcement training may be substituted for the work experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Successful completion of a comprehensive background check required, to include at a minimum, the following: ALERT test, FBI clearance, education and experience verification, medical and psychological review, polygraph, and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Deputy Judicial Marshals in the absence of the Sergeant, plan, assign and review work.
• Manage security arrangements for each court day and session.
• Oversee daily scheduling and assignment of Deputy Judicial Marshals under command.
• Assist with the movement of evidence and paperwork flow between judge, clerk, defendants and participants.
• Maintain presence in public areas of court facilities and ensure duties are carried out as directed.
• Oversee alarm systems, incident reports, and coordination with law enforcement as required.
