Job summary

Constellis is seeking a Court Security Officer to support US Marshals Service contracts, providing fixed-post, mobile, or foot patrols in federal courthouses under supervision. The union position requires readiness for austere conditions and adherence to post orders.

Responsibilities include enforcing access controls, surveillance, and possible armed escort duties; ensuring alarm, traffic, and incident reporting; maintaining licenses and training records; and working in varied weather conditions

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Minimum of 3 years of verifiable civilian law enforcement experience OR an equivalent law enforcement position with the United States Armed Forces (military). The experience must include general arrest authority.
• Must have completed or graduated from a certified training academy/program that provided instruction on the use of police powers in an armed capacity.
• Must submit to pre-placement screening and evaluation incl. background checks.
• Must be able to pass criminal background screen, drug test and physical exam.
• Possess a valid, unrestricted state driver’s license.
• Fluently read, speak, comprehend, and compose reports in English.
• Must meet medical/physical fitness requirements.
• Must be free from felony conviction and domestic violence convictions per federal law.
• Must comply with 922(g)(9) unlawful acts.

Responsibilities

• Shall enforce the District's entry and identification system.
• Test and Report Emergency Equipment.
• Patrol court facilities and grounds per post orders.
• Shall man USMS authorized stationary posts.
• Shall provide focused surveillance on incoming traffic to entrances to detect threats.
• May provide armed escort services for judges and court personnel.
• Provide security for off-site and remote judicial functions.
• Direct traffic and monitor lights as described in post orders.
• May be assigned to provide courtroom security during hearings.
• Provide courtroom security and enforce federal law within the courthouse.
• Log and report incidents within 24 hours.
• Monitor alarms, radio traffic and other information sources; dispatch as needed.
• Address fire alarms, burglar alarms and requests for assistance.
• Stop, screen, and inspect vehicles and pedestrians as directed.
• Use equipment properly; prevent passage of prohibited articles.
• Escort individuals or vehicles per post orders.
• Maintain licensing, certifications, training records for security employment.
• Operate radios/phones and report losses.
• Perform duties in all weather conditions.
