An established industry player is seeking a dedicated security professional to ensure the safety of the courthouse environment. This role involves screening individuals for weapons, maintaining communication with law enforcement, and responding to emergencies. The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma and have experience in law enforcement or court security. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program: Probate-Juvenile Division
Brief Description:
This position is responsible for ensuring all persons entering the Licking County courthouse are screened to prevent the presence of weapons and other contraband inside the building and to provide general overall security for a safe and secure environment for the judges, court personnel, those doing business at the courthouse, and members of the general public.
Job Prerequisites:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function, duty, and responsibility satisfactorily. In addition, all qualifications, education, uniform/equipment, and certification requirements must be met. A High School Diploma or equivalent G.E.D., as well as knowledge and experience with computers are required; an advanced degree/certificate or related training is preferred; law enforcement and/or court and security experience is preferred.
UNIFORM AND EQUIPMENT: This position is required to wear a Court approved uniform and requires the individual to possess and show proof of a valid Ohio Driver’s License.
Ability to qualify and safely carry a handgun in the State of Ohio, certified through the Ohio Peace Officer Academy, is mandatory. Annual requalification, training, and certification is required. This position additionally requires an individual to possess or obtain certification in x-ray scanning, metal detector and wand, audio and visual surveillance system, First Aid, CPR, and AED.
LANGUAGE AND REASONING SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend general correspondence and memos; ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with judges, magistrates, attorneys, staff, families, youth, public, and outside agencies; ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions, problem solve, and assess security issues are all required for this position.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Attention to detail; ability to work independently and under pressure; and, ability to maintain confidentiality is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to physically restrain another person is required. The employee must be able to climb stairs, run quickly, and act immediately in an emergency situation. Ability to understand verbal instructions and communicate effectively in person, by radio, and by telephone is a must.
