Job summary

Sutter County Human Resources is seeking a Forensic Mental Health Specialist I to provide specialized therapist services to mentally disordered offenders within the criminal justice system. You will conduct LPS evaluations, competency assessments, and court reports, while coordinating with public defenders, district attorneys, and jail staff.

Responsibilities include clinical services in custody and community settings, care transitions, and education to clients and partner agencies.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in a related field and two years of clinical/psychiatric social work experience.
• One year of experience working with mentally disordered offender population is desirable.
• Must be licensed or on track to licensure with the Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement treatment plans for mentally disordered offenders in the criminal justice system.
• Coordinate treatment activities with Sheriff, Probation, Courts, and state hospital partners.
• Provide direct clinical services in jails and through the Conditional Release Program.
• Perform competency assessments and prepare court reports.
• Supervise and train lower level staff and review case work.
• Provide therapy to individuals and groups and participate in case reviews and interagency meetings.
• Testify in court and present treatment recommendations as needed.
