Job summary

The State of Maine Judicial Branch is seeking a Division Supervisor II to lead a consolidated court division within the Cumberland County Courthouse in Portland. You will coordinate operations, staff across divisions, and ensure efficient case processing and customer service for judges, attorneys, and the public.

Responsibilities include planning, hiring, supervising, and training staff, merging two divisions when needed, and possibly acting as Clerk of Court in the Clerk’s absence.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of court procedures as they relate to caseload management.
• Knowledge and experience using MEJIS.
• Ability to type or keyboard at least 45 words per minute.
• Experience in teamwork and merging two divisions and two caseloads.
• Supervisory experience in an office setting or relevant supervisory training.

Responsibilities

• Plan, analyze, and organize the work of the Division.
• Hire, discipline, and supervise employees with Clerk of Court consultation.
• Supervise, train, evaluate, and discipline staff.
• Assign, review, and evaluate work.
• Ensure courteous, professional assistance and effective relationships with all interactions.
• Handle complaints from internal and external sources and communicate with judges, attorneys, and the public.
• Oversee docketing, case processing, and filing; calendar pre-trial activities and trials.
