Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Certification as a Peace officer in the State of Texas is required.
• Possession of a valid driver's license; must obtain a State of Texas Driver's license within 90 days.
• Must pass a State Criminal History background check.

Responsibilities

• Serves civil papers and processes (warrants, summons, writs, restraining orders, etc.).
• Maintains records, reports, and other required duties as assigned by the Constable.
• Acts as court bailiff in Justice of the Peace Court and performs general law enforcement work.
• Conducts seizures, evictions, and impounds as needed.
• Patrols assigned areas, directs traffic, issues citations, and apprehends suspects.
• Prepares criminal cases, files, and records; responds to routine and emergency inquiries.
• Interacts with the public to explain papers and locate designated parties.
• Maintains warrants logs, papers served, and department records.
• Escorts inmates to and from jail, applying restraints as required.
• Handles bank deposits of fees for papers served from other jurisdictions.
