Job summary

Dallas County seeks a Deputy Constable I for Precinct 1 to perform licensed peace officer tasks and bailiff duties for the Justice of the Peace, in accordance with state and local laws.

Responsibilities include serving civil papers, writs, warrants, arrests, and transporting prisoners. Minimum qualifications include GED or high school diploma; possible TCOLE credit; mandatory exams and extensive background checks.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid Texas Driver’s License with a good driving record.
• Must successfully complete written examination, physical agility assessment, psychological exam, polygraph examination, and medical examination per Dallas County guidelines.
• Background investigation conducted by Dallas County approved vendors; certain screening guidelines apply.

Responsibilities

• Delivers and executes civil papers including citations, notices, subpoenas, summons, and restraining orders; writs involving garnishment and other actions.
• Performs arrests and set outs when warranted; transfers prisoners to and from jail and courts.
• Works Bailiff duties for the Justice of the Peace and other duties as required.
