Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning Design, Communications, English, Journalism, Multimedia / Digital Media, or equivalent DoD training / QA / technical-writing experience.
  • 1–4 years of related experience: courseware QA, technical writing, instructional support, multimedia production, classroom instruction, or aviation / military training as an end-user.
  • Ability to learn technical tools quickly; demonstrated by prior work in QA tools, LMS platforms, publishing/CMS, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar.
  • Clear writing that is concise and learner-facing; strong editorial direction.
  • Strong QA instincts to catch defects and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Exposure to military training conventions; interest in ADDIE / PADDIE+M and IMI Level I–IV constructs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word / PowerPoint / SharePoint / Teams; basic version control.

Responsibilities

  • QA of authored courseware and test lessons for bugs, navigation issues, and learning-design fidelity.
  • Draft and edit student guides, instructor guides, job aids, POIs, lesson plans, and quick-reference materials.
  • Implement assessments and remediation paths according to ISD criteria.
  • Convert ISD-approved storyboards into working pages and IMI screens; advance to end-to-end builds as Captivate skill grows.
  • Grow Captivate proficiency as the primary authoring tool; cross-train on Storyline and Rise.
  • Validate accessibility and packaging per Section 508 / WCAG and SCORM standards.
  • Coordinate media integration with the Multimedia Developer (graphics, VO, video).
  • Participate in SME sessions; evolve into independent SME dialogue responsibilities.
  • Maintain traceability between ISD-approved storyboards, source data, and final build.
  • Identify and track defects through to resolution; maintain configuration management discipline.
  • Develop learning-design understanding to justify design choices beyond functionality.
  • Prepare artifacts and collect feedback during reviews; present your work over time.
  • Drive continuous improvement by sharing lessons with ISD and senior Courseware Developer.
