Job summary

La Plata County in Colorado is seeking a collaborative County Manager who can guide county departments, translate Board priorities into action, and steward operations with accountability and transparency.

The role requires a Master’s degree in public or business administration and 8–10 years of public/private sector experience, including at least 5 years of senior management. Relocation support and housing assistance are possible.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in public or business administration.
• 8–10 years public/private sector experience, with a minimum of five years in senior management.
• Local level public sector experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer and implement board direction to county staff.
• Manage day-to-day operations and coordinate information flow to the Board.
• Lead financial and strategic planning with budget oversight.
• Foster accountability, transparency, and public trust across County government.
• Represent County leadership with residents, officials, and partners.
