Job summary

StartupNWA in Benton County seeks an experienced accounting professional to assist in developing the County Budget and to carry accounting duties in the comptroller’s absence. The role emphasizes internal controls, financial reporting, and adherence to regulations.

You will supervise two accounting staff, coordinate with departments, manage purchasing, payroll, audits, and ensure timely data for Finance Committee meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or university in Business, Accounting, Finance, or closely related field.
• Minimum of three years experience in Financial Management and accounting supervisory experience and skills.
• Solid level of data processing and computer knowledge with spreadsheet and word processing experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the comptroller in maintaining the countywide general accounting system, general ledger and budget.
• Oversee paying bills, coding accounts, and monitoring dept budgets to stay within budget.
• Develop procedures for annual budget process and coordinate data for Finance Committee meetings.
• Prepare for state legislative audits, assist auditors, and ensure total compliance.
• Lead Purchasing Functions, negotiate contracts, and analyze vendors for cost savings.
• Supervise payroll processes and maintain internal controls with HR collaboration.
• Support elected officials and department heads with purchasing requests and data.
• Provide financial spreadsheets and reports to Finance Committee and Quorum Court.
