Job summary

Van Meter Inc. is seeking a Counter Sales Representative to service counter customers, accurately pick orders, and coordinate delivery and receipt of orders. The role emphasizes safety, customer service excellence, and alignment with the company’s culture and 5 P’s.

You will work independently yet collaborate with inside sales and distribution teams to ensure accurate, timely order fulfillment. The position requires a high school diploma or GED (two-year degree preferred) and experience in

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of a two year degree preferred.
• Previous sales experience preferred.
• Electrical product knowledge is preferred.
• Ability to lift 70 lbs required; lift 100 lbs at times.
• Ability to use fork lift equipment required.
• Demonstrated computer skills.
• Ability to work with Excel documents. Knowledge of Eclipse and RF Scan is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Service the business and industrial establishment customer as well as walk-in customer by providing projects or information on products or services.
• Pick and prepare customer pipe and wire in an efficient and accurate manner.
• Picks customer orders using an RF gun, motorized cart and/or forklift.
• Build and maintain customer relationships.
• Provide project demonstrations to qualified customers on request.
• Maintain counter area, displays and stock levels in an orderly fashion.
• Estimate date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own vendor’s production and delivery schedule.
• Emphasize salable features, quote prices and credit terms, prepare sales orders for orders obtained.
• Encourage creativity, risk-taking, and constant improvements.
• Work side-by-side with the inside sales, and distribution teams to ensure quality customer service.
• Drive for continuous improvement.
• Promote our culture and 5 P’s.
