Job summary

Prime Metal Buildings & Components seeks a self-driven Counter Sales Associate to assist in day-to-day operations within our retail stores, including sales, estimating, and customer service. You will engage customers, understand project needs, and recommend products to complete projects.

The role emphasizes building product knowledge, supporting transactions, and pursuing new business opportunities to grow market share. Teamwork and safety procedures are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with metal buildings preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to computer software systems.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Positive attitude and desire to work as a team player.
• Ability for cross training in other areas of the plant.
• Follow safety procedures including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional, friendly, and responsive customer service over the phone, through email, and in person.
• Develop an understanding of customer projects, identify their needs, and recommend appropriate products and solutions.
• Recommend relevant add-on products and upsell opportunities to help customers successfully complete their projects.
• Maintain strong product knowledge to advise customers, answer questions, and assist in troubleshooting issues.
• Support team members with customer transactions and daily operations as needed.
• Identify sales leads, manage prospects, and actively pursue new business opportunities.
• Conduct cold calls and proactive outreach to expand the customer base and grow sales.
• Monitor market trends, customer feedback, competitor activity, and provide recommendations to leadership on ways to better serve customers and grow market share.
• Follow direction from supervisors and complete assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner.
