Job summary

Arnold Lumber Company in Bristol, RI, is seeking a friendly Counter Sales associate to join our fourth-generation, full-service lumberyard with over 110 years of community service.

The role supports the Sales department as an entry-level position reporting to the Profit Center Manager, handling order entry, transactions, quotes, stocking, and customer service at the counter, while promoting inventory and knowledge of products.

Qualifications

• Self-motivation and the ability to learn independently.
• Ability to effectively read and write and good math skills.
• Computer proficiency and familiarity with the POS system.
• Outstanding customer service and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and teamwork ability.
• Willingness to learn product knowledge and store procedures.

Responsibilities

• Greet and service customers at the sales counter.
• Process order entry, sales transactions, and quotes.
• Stock shelves and maintain inventory accuracy.
• Provide product information and literature; assist with special orders.
• Support opening/closing procedures and cash handling.
• Direct customers to the appropriate team member for quotes or orders.
• Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping in the store area.
• Assist with cycle counts and inventory procedures.
