Job summary

Northeastern Supply in Bel Air, MD is seeking a Counter Sales Associate to drive sales and assist walk-in and telephone customers with product selection and fulfillment. This full-time position requires a High School diploma or GED and offers an hourly pay range with benefits.

As a counter associate, you will manage order fulfillment, inventory control, and customer service while upselling products and maintaining knowledge of offerings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with product, applications, or wholesale distribution preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and stand for up to 8 hours daily.

Responsibilities

• Pull, fill, pack, and set up orders for delivery or pickup; track order status at all times.
• Receive shipments, log into inventory, conduct audits, and process returns accurately.
• Assist counter and phone customers with orders, product info, pricing, and availability.
• Upsell complementary products and convert requests to stocked brands where appropriate.
• Maintain deep product and industry knowledge; follow company pricing and credit guidelines.
• Collaborate with team, share best practices, and support a positive work environment.
• Follow all company procedures, policies, and Employee Handbook requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Counter Sales Associate drives sales and customer satisfaction by assisting walk-in and telephone customers with product selection and order fulfillment. This role leverages technical knowledge to solve customer needs and build lasting relationships.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Order Fulfillment & Inventory
  • Pull, fill, pack, and set up orders for delivery or pickup; track order status at all times
  • Receive shipments, log into inventory, conduct audits, and process returns accurately
• Customer Service
  • Assist counter and phone customers with orders, product info, pricing, and availability
  • Greet all customers professionally; resolve issues promptly or elevate as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized counter and product display area
• Sales & Product Knowledge
  • Upsell complementary products and convert requests to stocked brands where appropriate
  • Maintain deep product and industry knowledge; follow company pricing and credit guidelines
  • Assess customer needs to determine appropriate service level or escalation path
• Teamwork & Standards
  • Build customer relationships; adapt approach to different customer types and needs
  • Collaborate with team, share best practices, and support a positive work environment
  • Follow all company procedures, policies, and Employee Handbook requirements
  • Other duties as assigned
