Job summary

The City of Irving seeks a crisis counselor to assist crime victims, with advanced knowledge of crisis intervention, victimology and trauma-informed care. The role includes helping victims access resources, maintaining files, and delivering trainings to interns and the community.

A Master’s degree and two years of relevant experience are required; bilingual English/Spanish is preferred. Applicants will be subject to CJIS access requirements, a polygraph, and a criminal history check.

Job description

Duties include providing crisis counseling services to crime victims and requires advanced knowledge of crisis intervention, victimology and trauma-informed care. Additional duties include assisting victims and their family members with accessing community resources and programs; maintaining client files and statistical data; preparing and presenting training to interns and the community; and participating in regularly scheduled collaborative meetings with police investigators, prosecutors and social service agencies. A Master’s degree, with major course work in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field, and two years of relevant experience, preferably working with trauma victims, is required. Bilingual (English / Spanish) skills preferred. Duties involve access to Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS), therefore Candidates will be subject to a polygraph exam and criminal history check. In accordance with CJIS requirements, must not have any criminal conviction as an adult or juvenile above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or any Class B misdemeanor within the past 10 years; other convictions may also be considered. PAY GRADE GG19 / FULL PAY RANGE $4862 - $6856 PER MONTH
