Job summary

Phoenix House in Ronkonkoma, NY is seeking a Counselor to support clients through evidence-based group counseling, individual sessions, and treatment plan execution in a milieu setting.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, provide psychosocial interventions, supervise milieu staff, maintain case records, and respond to emergencies including medication dispensing when needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• CASAC certification required.
• Minimum two years in a behavioral health/substance use disorder treatment program.
• Trained to dispense medications to clients in case of emergency.

Responsibilities

• Provides individual counseling and treatment/recovery plan preparation, monitoring and review.
• Facilitates activities of daily living, community meetings, engagement, carrying out treatment planning in milieu.
• Provide psychosocial interventions to teach skills for coping with urges, craving, impulsive behavior and cognitive distortions in thinking, motivational interviewing techniques.
• Provide supervision of milieu staff.
• Provide group and family counseling.
• Plan and facilitate interactions with residents within the milieu to build social, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
• Assist in supervision of activities related to establishing a treatment environment.
• Prepare and maintain case records.
• Assist in the medication room in case of emergency.

You Will Have Responsibilities Including But Not Limited To

• Salary range $25.00 - $30.67 hourly

Qualifications

Required Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent

License/Certification

• Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) is required.

Required Experience

• Minimum two years in a behavioral health/substance use disorder treatment program
