Job summary

American Addiction Centers is seeking a Counseling professional to provide individual, group and family counseling, conduct assessments, and coordinate care within a multidisciplinary team. The role supports both outpatient and inpatient adult populations and requires licensure progress and strong documentation skills.

The candidate will engage in evidence-based practices, follow HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 guidelines, and participate in weekly team meetings to ensure high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Behavioral Sciences required (social work, counseling, or psychology).
• Registered Intern License required, actively working toward licensure/certification.
• Minimum 2 years in behavioral healthcare preferred.
• Experience with substance abuse, mental health, and motivational interviewing.
• Experience with electronic health records and documentation.
• Knowledge of ASAM criteria and psychotropic meds.
• Strong reading/writing skills and documentation.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and flexible hours.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, group and family counseling.
• Conduct clinical assessments for new patients and ongoing required assessments.
• Advocate and coordinate with the treatment team for patient care.
• Ensure timely documentation meeting licensure and accreditation standards.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure quality patient care.
• Deliver services to outpatient and inpatient adult populations.
