Job summary

American Addiction Centers seeks a Counselor II to provide individual, group and family counseling within a collaborative treatment team. You will conduct clinical assessments for new patients, apply evidence-based therapies, and coordinate care to support recovery and overall well-being of adults with addictions and co-occurring disorders.

The role requires licensure progress and strong documentation, with a focus on patient-centered care and teamwork in a therapeutic milieu.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences required.
• Must be license eligible, actively working toward licensure (LMSW, LPC-A, LMFT-A).
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a behavioral healthcare field.
• Experience working with substance abuse, addictions, mental health, CBT and motivational interviewing.
• Knowledge of utilizing electronic health record software and documentation.
• Knowledge of ASAM criteria.
• Counseling experience with adults and understanding psychotropic medications.
• Ability to read, write and present information; participate in meetings.
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Provide intervention, assessments, treatment planning, triage and individual/group counseling.
• Initiate and provide family counseling services.
• Provide clinical services to all patients on caseload and assist when needed with other patients as assigned by clinical manager.
• Participate in weekly treatment team meeting and program staff meetings.
• Ensure that all documentation meets contract, licensure and accreditation standards.
• Communicate efficiently with other departments to ensure the best care for patients.
• Provide clinical services to outpatient and inpatient adult population.
• Abide by HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 guidelines.
