Cognizant is seeking an experienced Couchbase DBA to design, deploy, and manage scalable Couchbase clusters in a remote, globally distributed environment.

The role demands 10+ years of expertise, strong SQL++ (N1QL), and proficiency in upgrades, security, monitoring, and XDCR, delivering high availability and performance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Couchbase experience required.
• Experience managing production Couchbase clusters.
• Strong SQL++ (N1QL) skills and performance tuning.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support Couchbase clusters across environments for high availability and performance.
• Design scalable Couchbase architectures, including clustering and data modeling.
• Tune performance, indexing, and SQL++ querying; troubleshoot issues.
• Manage backup, DR, failover, and XDCR.
• Plan upgrades, patching, cluster rebalancing, and maintenance with minimal disruption.
• Monitor health, investigate incidents, and implement preventive measures.
• Implement security standards: RBAC, encryption, auditing, compliance.
• Collaborate with application, infra, and cloud teams on migrations and optimization initiatives.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage and support Couchbase database clusters across production and non-production environments, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance.
• Design and implement scalable Couchbase database architectures, including cluster configuration, data modeling, replication, and capacity planning.
• Perform database performance tuning, SQL++ (N1QL) query optimization, indexing, and troubleshooting of database-related issues.
• Manage database backup and recovery, disaster recovery (DR), failover, and Cross Data Center Replication (XDCR).
• Plan and execute Couchbase upgrades, patching, cluster rebalancing, and database maintenance with minimal business disruption.
• Monitor database health, resolve production incidents, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and implement preventive measures.
• Implement database security standards, including RBAC, encryption, auditing, and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and cloud teams on database architecture, migrations, automation, and performance optimization initiatives.

The annual salary for this position is between $73,350 $115,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and is subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
