Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the Inpatient Physical Medicine team. The candidate will assess patients on admission, document progress, and implement treatment plans per department policies. Strong knowledge of pediatric to geriatric needs and good documentation are essential.

One year of experience is preferred, but new graduates will be considered. BLS certification must be current, and licensure eligibility in the state is required to practice.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupation Therapist Assistant program.
• Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
• One year experience preferred but new graduates will be considered.
• BLS certification must be current before caring for patients independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial assessment on each patient according to departmental policies.
• Document the course of patient care including progress notes and continued need for treatment.
• Administer modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures as per policy.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient.
• Promote education within the department.
• Demonstrate knowledge of special needs and age groups (neonatal to geriatric).
• Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.
