Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Hicksville, NY is seeking a Cost Estimator to deliver complete and accurate component and material estimates within tight timelines. You will use SWRMD software and outside vendors’ data, collaborate with manufacturing, and prepare quotations and production plans.

You’ll identify standard items and costs, assist Sales and Project Management in pricing, and respond to large customer pricing requests while maintaining data integrity and vendor sources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or 2-4 years previous estimating experience.
• Experience in the manufacturing industry is a plus.
• Excellent verbal, written, and virtual communication skills.
• Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Must be able to use basic algebra and geometry to calculate figures and amounts.
• Must be competent in computer skills including email, database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.
• Must be able to maintain good attendance.
• Must be reliable and dependable.

Responsibilities

• Accurately estimates the costs associated with specific projects.
• Develops production plans with internal and external suppliers, including pricing and timing.
• Assists Sales and Project Management in developing sell prices.
• Responds to large pricing requests from customers and prepares quotes.
• Maintains a database of sources for outsourced components and materials.
• Evaluates production steps and assigns estimated times and budgets.
