Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. is seeking a Cost Estimator to develop accurate manufacturing cost estimates and pricing proposals in response to RFQs and new business opportunities.

You will analyze engineering drawings, labor, materials, and processes to determine product costs and support strategic pricing decisions. You will collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Sales to ensure estimates are competitive and aligned with business objectives, while maintaining databases and

Qualifications

• Receives, reviews, and processes RFQs and cost estimates.
• Analyzes drawings, BOMs, routings, and specs to estimate costs.
• Projects material, labor, tooling, outside processing, and overhead costs.
• Develops pricing models using historical data and market trends.
• Validates labor standards, costs, and manufacturing assumptions with teams.
• Prepares analyses and quote packages for management review.

Responsibilities

• Review RFQs and cost estimate requests to determine scope.
• Develop cost estimates from drawings, specs, and BOMs.
• Calculate material, labor, tooling, and overhead costs.
• Create pricing models using historical data and market conditions.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and Finance.
• Assess cost effectiveness and provide recommendations.
• Prepare cost analyses and quoting documentation for management.
• Support make-versus-buy analyses and cost improvements.
• Participate in cost-reduction initiatives and continuous improvement.
• Maintain estimating databases and supporting documentation.
