Job summary

Flex--n--gate in Warren, MI is seeking an Engineering Cost Estimator to analyze product specifications and apply methodologies to determine labor, material and indirect costs for plastic and metal products.

The role requires a engineering background, 2+ years in automotive cost estimation, strong math, and proficiency in CAAD and Excel. You will interact with manufacturing, sales and engineering while maintaining EMS and QMS awareness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an engineering field.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience estimating piece price and tooling for automotive.
• Strong math and computer skills.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to read blueprints and designs.
• Ability to use CAAD software.
• Strong Microsoft Excel experience.
• Solid judgement and decision making.
• Strong organizational and prioritizing skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Motivated, service- and team-oriented with attention to detail.
• Able to work well under deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned quotations by Estimating Manager.
• Interacts with manufacturing, sales, internal engineering and tooling vendors to formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• If not supplied by customer, determines raw material specifications.
• Identifies equipment, labor, raw material purchased components, packaging and other requirements needed to produce the product.
• Compete injection mold RFQs.
• Determine manufacturing processes required to produce product and properly estimate order of operations.
• Secures vendor pricing and applies standard cost factors to determine price of manufacture.
• Applies profit markup and recommends final selling price to management for customer quote.
• Provides recommendation of tooling and process for review with Estimating Manager.
• Assist in completing customer quotation forms as necessary.
• Confer with Design and Manufacturing Engineers on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
• Prepare estimates used by management for planning, organizing and scheduling work.
• Maintain data in information system or database.
• Awareness and management of EMS and QMS as stated in company policies.
