Job summary

Forj Medical in Vadnais Heights is seeking a Plastics Cost Estimator to develop accurate quotations for injection-molded components, tooling, and related services. You will translate customer requirements into clear quotations while partnering with Commercial, Engineering, Tooling, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, NPI, and Operations to balance customer needs with manufacturability and risk.

The role requires evaluating RFQs, drawings, specs, and quality requirements to define scope and risks,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
Three+ years of cost estimating, quoting, manufacturing engineering, or related experience preferred.
Experience estimating injection-molded components, molds, or secondary operations preferred.
Experience in medical device or contract manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

Review RFQs, customer drawings, models, specifications, forecasts, and quality requirements to define scope, assumptions, risks, and information gaps.
Develop detailed cost models for injection molding, molds and fixtures, labor, machine time, cycle time, scrap, secondary operations, and outside services.
Prepare accurate quotation packages, pricing recommendations, and supporting rationale for internal review and customer submission.
Identify cost drivers and recommend design, tooling, sourcing, or process alternatives to improve value and manufacturability.
Maintain estimating tools, cost standards, historical data, and quote records.
