Hill International is seeking a Cost Estimator II in Los Angeles, California

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or related field.
2. Certified estimating professional credential required.
3. 5+ years of estimating experience related to engineering and construction projects.
4. Experience with estimate reconciliations and change order negotiations.
5. Ability to obtain independent estimates from vendors/contractors and compare with proposals.
6. Knowledge of construction processes and industry practices.
7. Self-starter with results-oriented focus.
8. Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
9. Ability to collaborate across departments and work in a team environment.
10. Detail-oriented and highly organized.
11. Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
12. Experience with outside agencies like FAA, LADBS, LADWP, etc.
13. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, On-Screen Takeoffs, Bluebeam; knowledge of Prolog is a plus.
14. Additional duties as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

Responsibilities

1. Prepare independent cost estimates during project planning, design, and construction.
2. Review and develop detailed estimates from conceptual info or engineering drawings.
3. Develop estimates including labor, material, and equipment costs.
4. Provide constructability reports and assist in developing credible project budgets.
5. Reconcile estimates with third-party estimates and communicate results.
6. Analyze bids and align with estimates, identify influencing factors of production.
7. Present estimates to management and stakeholders.
8. Review contract documents, scope of work, and change orders for merit and negotiate resolutions.
9. Review proposal scope, labor rates, and material pricing for accuracy and fairness.
10. Negotiate and document points of disagreement, develop records, and coordinate with project teams.
11. Prepare reports and correspondence as required.
