Job Description

The Tsui Group is seeking a qualified and experienced candidate to join our aviation team as a Cost Estimator II - Airside in Los Angeles County. The role involves:

  1. Preparing Independent Cost Estimates to support projects during planning, design, and construction.
  2. Reviewing final Engineer’s estimates considering phasing, airport operations, shift, resources, time constraints, and badging impacts.
  3. Developing detailed and independent cost estimates from conceptual information and engineering drawings.
  4. Preparing estimates including labor, materials, and equipment costs.
  5. Providing constructibility reports and assisting in developing credible cost budgets.
  6. Reconciling estimates with third-party estimates and communicating results.
  7. Analyzing bids from vendors and contractors, and aligning with independent estimates.
  8. Identifying factors influencing costs and necessary field equipment.
  9. Presenting estimates to management and stakeholders.
  10. Reviewing material take-offs, components, and elements of estimates.
  11. Evaluating historical cost data for future estimates.
  12. Reviewing contracts and modifications to determine scope and costs.
Additional Duties

Assisting in change order negotiations, reviewing contractor claims, and ensuring scope and pricing accuracy. Developing negotiation records and coordinating with project teams.

Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of estimating experience related to engineering and construction projects.
  • Experience with estimate reconciliations and change order negotiations.
  • Knowledge of construction processes and industry practices.
  • Results-oriented and self-starter attitude.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to interact across departments and work in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Experience with multiple projects and outside agencies like FAA, LADBS, LADWP.
Education/Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Certified estimating professional credential required.

Software Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, experience with On-Screen Takeoffs, Bluebeam, and knowledge of Prolog or project management systems preferred.

Benefits

Salary: $118,000-$123,000. Benefits include medical, vision, dental (covered for employee), life and disability insurance, vacation and sick days, 401k after 1 year, cell phone stipend, and work laptop.
