Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker in Valley City, OH or Towson, MD, hybrid role, seeks a Cost Engineer Manager to drive cost modeling, savings, and supplier negotiation strategies. You’ll train engineers, lead VAVE events, and leverage DFMA/Cleansheet tools to develop accurate cost models.

You will work with cross-functional teams, apply lean principles, and contribute to continuous improvement in manufacturing costs and supplier negotiations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
• 5+ years engineering experience in manufacturing/design of mechanical products.
• Experience in Global Supply Management environment.
• Lean and quality experience.
• Knowledge of machining, injection molding, packaging, die casting, forging, electronics assembly, and stamping.
• Cost estimating knowledge and ability to drive cost reductions.
• Ability to analyze data, identify cost drivers and develop cost options.
• Experience with CAD and PLM tools.
• Ability to challenge supplier costing and collaborate with sourcing.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Lead Category Managers to build roadmaps for future lines and components to cost model.
• Execute and manage cost modeling using SBD methods.
• Identify cost savings opportunities for supplier negotiations.
• Support development of negotiation strategies with fact-based arguments.
• Lead team efforts in VAVE events as core competency.
• Pursue continuous improvements in costing of sourced products/components.
• Educate stakeholders in should-cost methodology and negotiations.
• Utilize tools like apriori, DFMA, Cleansheet for cost analytics.
• Develop training modules for leaders and GSM team.
• Lead and upskill cost engineers.
