Job summary

Nissan in Farmington Hills, MI is seeking a Cost Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers. You will drive cost reduction, profitability initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration across NAFTA and the Americas region.

The ideal candidate aligns engineering with finance, has 5+ years of direct experience including management, and holds a engineering/finance degree. MBA preferred; hybrid work schedule with 4 days in office in Farmington Hills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of direct experience, including at least 2 years in a management role.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Finance, or related discipline.
• Understanding of vehicle commodities, their costs, each cost element, and part manufacturing processes, plus strong financial acumen.
• MBA or other advanced degree desired.
• 3-7 years in seating and/or soft trim components and/or cockpit module.
• 3-7 years in manufacturing processes such as plastic injection, steel stamping, die casting, painting, chrome plating.
• Familiarity with estimating software or programming skills.
• Experience in costing department from a supplier and/or OeM.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills to senior executive audiences.
• Ability to work across functions/countries while influencing long-term strategies.
• Strong analytical aptitude and data-driven problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead department performance including hiring, developing, training, and engaging a team of engineers.
• Develop staff to be subject matter experts for their commodities.
• Set vision and initiatives to improve vehicle profitability through parts or commodity activities.
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities and support implementation across activities.
• Represent the NCO department with clear reporting to executives, customers and peers.
• Manage budgets for Purchased Parts and Vendor Tooling across programs.
• Drive cross-functional projects to improve consistency and continuous improvement.
