Job Summary

Industrial Power Solutions, a Sundt Company, is seeking a highly motivated Cost Engineer to support large-scale data center construction projects across the United States. The data center market continues to expand at an incredible pace, and IPS is growing right alongside it.


This position plays a key role in managing project financial performance by tracking costs, forecasting outcomes, analyzing trends, and providing project teams with the information needed to make informed decisions. The Cost Engineer will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Operations, Accounting, and Project Controls teams to help ensure projects remain on budget and financially successful.


Key Responsibilities


  • Maintain positive working relationships with project teams, operations, accounting, subcontractors, and clients.

  • Produce accurate and timely cost reporting, forecasting, and project financial analysis.

  • Develop and maintain project cost reports, forecasts, and financial tracking tools.

  • Monitor labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and indirect costs against project budgets.

  • Analyze productivity and cost trends to identify potential risks and opportunities.

  • Support monthly forecasting and estimate-at-completion reporting.

  • Track and evaluate change orders and their impact on project budgets.

  • Review committed costs, purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and invoices.

  • Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports for project leadership and executive management.

  • Collaborate with project teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve financial performance.

  • Support project closeout activities and final cost reconciliation.

  • Eliminate waste such as rework, delays, inaccurate reporting, and inefficiencies in project controls processes.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction cost control, project controls, project engineering, estimating, accounting, or related disciplines.

  • Experience supporting large construction, industrial, electrical, or data center projects preferred.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.

  • Understanding of project budgets, forecasting, change management, and cost reporting.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to analyze large amounts of data and communicate findings effectively.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment.

  • Ability to climb stairs and navigate construction environments when required.
