Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Cost Analyst to join our Project Controls team in the United States. You will support cost control, budgeting, and change management while developing forecasts and tracking expenditures.

The role emphasizes strong analytical skills, detail orientation, and effective communication with project teams and clients. Responsibilities include maintaining cost models, generating reports, reviewing invoices, and contributing to financial summaries for PMO stakeholders.

Qualifications

• BA/BS Business, Finance, or Accounting (or equivalent).
• 5-7 years’ experience in Project Controls, Financial Controls, Finance, or Accounting, including team leadership.
• Power & Energy industry experience required.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
• Confident self-starter able to operate in a dynamic environment.
• Attention to detail and organization in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and produce deliverables.
• Ability to build and sustain relationships with team members, contractors, and clients.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Design and Publisher.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager and Cost Control Manager in cost control, budgeting, and change management activities.
• Assist in development and maintenance of project budgets, forecasts, cash flows, and expenditure tracking.
• Monitor contractor and consultant costs against budgets and flag variances.
• Track cost-related project changes and provide input for recommendations.
• Prepare and update cost estimates, financial forecasts, and funding requests.
• Maintain financial models and tracking tools for cost allocations.
• Generate regular cost reports, dashboards, and summaries for PMO review.
• Assist in review of contractor/vendor invoices and track payment status.
• Provide documentation and analysis for project accounting, including accruals and cost-to-complete evaluations.
• Prepare memos, presentations, and client deliverables with basic charts and financial summaries.

Your Impact

Job Duties

• Support the Project Manager and Cost Control Manager in the day-to-day administration of cost control, budgeting, and change management activities.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of project and program budget forecasts, cash flows, and expenditure tracking.
• Monitor contractor and consultant costs against approved budgets and flag variances or issues for review and resolution.
• Track and log cost-related project changes, assist with analysis, and provide input for recommendations to the Cost Control Manager and Project Manager.
• Prepare and update cost estimates, financial forecasts, and funding requests under the direction of senior project controls staff.
• Maintain financial models and tracking tools to monitor cost allocations across project elements.
• Generate regular cost reports, summaries, and dashboards for review by the Cost Control Manager and Program Management Office (PMO).
• Assist in the review and processing of contractor/vendor invoices and track payment status to ensure alignment with contractual and financial requirements.
• Provide supporting documentation and analysis for project accounting functions, including cost accruals and cost-to-complete evaluations.
• Assist in the preparation of memos, presentations, and client deliverables, including basic charts, tables, and financial summaries.

Who You Are

Minimum Requirements:

• BA/BS Business, Finance, or Accounting (or equivalent)
• 5-7 years’ experience in either Project Controls, Financial Controls, Finance, or Accounting including experience leading a team of professionals
• Power & Energy industry experience required
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
• Confident self-starter with the ability to operate in a dynamic environment
• Attention to detail and organization while working in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and produce project deliverables
• Ability to build and sustain relationships with team members, contractors, and clients
