Job summary

Ferrotec, Livermore, CA, is seeking a senior Cost Accountant to lead the cost accounting function in a dynamic manufacturing environment. You will supervise the cost accounting team, ensure inventory cost data accuracy, and maintain standard costs and rates while evaluating pricing patterns.

The role emphasizes period-end close, internal controls, and collaboration with Operations to drive cost containment, pricing accuracy, and reliable reporting.

Qualifications

• 7 years cost accounting experience in a standard cost manufacturing environment.
• Experience in an advanced MRP II environment.
• Proficient in Windows-based PC software including Excel and Word.
• Strong interpersonal and analytical skills, and proven problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and work independently.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Supervise the cost accounting team.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of inventory cost data.
• Maintain standard material costs and rates; evaluate pricing and updates.
• Review obsolete and excess inventory and calculate reserves.
• Review labor and overhead rates for pricing accuracy.
• Prepare and distribute actual to budget cost center reports and month-end analyses.
• Review PPV and WO variance reports and communicate explanations to operations.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts and audit documentation.
• Support budgeting and forecasting for cost of goods and manufacturing expenses.
• Monitor cost accounting activities for consistency and compliance.
