Cost Accounting Supervisor
Location: Dayton, OH (Hybrid)
Salary: $95,000 – $115,000

Our well-established client is seeking a Cost Accounting Supervisor to lead cost and general ledger accounting activities including supervising two direct reports (staff accountant level), owning key processes in the month-end close, and supporting a system conversion. The ideal candidate will have strong cost accounting experience and Excel proficiency, with an interest in process improvement and team development.

Key Responsibilities of the Cost Accounting Supervisor:

• Supervise two direct reports, providing coaching and performance support
• Maintain accurate cost accounting including WIP, raw materials, and labor hour costing
• Oversee inventory accounting and assist with physical inventory at 2–3 plant locations annually
• Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Take ownership of the month-end close process
• Analyze data to identify variances and support continuous improvement efforts
• Assist with data validation and testing related to a company-specific system conversion
• Support internal and external audits as needed

Preferred Qualifications of the Cost Accounting Supervisor:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• 5+ years of experience with a strong focus in cost accounting
• Proficiency in Excel, including data validation and analysis tools
• Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
• Manufacturing industry experience
• Physical inventory experience across multiple plant sites
• Prior supervisory or team lead experience preferred
