Job description

Job Title: Cost Accountant

Under the direction of the Controller, the Cost Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the general ledger through proper journal entries, account reconciliations, reserve analysis, and support and research into variances and anomalies. The role involves working with the Controller, finance team, and management to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and accounting policies.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee Cash flow, provide weekly/daily cash updates, and manage bank reconciliations.
2. Create and analyze weekly/monthly reports; ensure timely distribution; manage expense reporting via Concur software.
3. Play a key role in the month-end close process, including journal entries, ledger reconciliations, maintaining reserve levels, and payroll entries.
4. Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting, working with department heads on SG&A and cost center reviews.
5. Support annual audits and tax processes, including preparing audit work papers and coordinating tax information.
6. Complete government surveys, prepare and file sales and use tax reports, and handle other government reporting requirements.
7. Maintain the company credit card program.
8. Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• CMA or CPA certification is a plus.
• 3-5+ years of experience as a Cost Accountant, preferably in the Food & Beverage manufacturing industry.
• Experience with compliance, tax, audit, and monthly review processes.
• Strong collaboration skills with management and other departments.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
