Job summary

Financeroles is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to support the local finance team in Lynchburg, VA. The role partners with operations and may assist other facilities as needed, reporting to the Finance Manager.

The candidate will handle month-end close for Inventory, Purchasing, and AR, perform project and margin analysis, and manage the standard costing system. Strong Excel skills and systems experience are essential.

Qualifications

• BS or BA degree in relevant field with 3–5 years cost accounting experience
• Month end reporting and close for Inventory/Purchasing and AR
• Project accounting including margins and processing
• Sales and margin analysis
• Month end journals, accruals, prepayments, recharges; balance sheet reconciliations
• Standard costing system management and ownership
• Data analysis for cost and manufacturing
• Ability to challenge the norm and improve processes

Responsibilities

• Perform month end close for Inventory, Purchasing, and AR close and reconciliation
• Review margins for projects on a monthly basis
• Analyze sales and margins to support pricing and profitability
• Process month end journals, accruals, prepayments, and recharges
• Reconcile month end bookings and balance sheets
• Maintain and own the standard costing system
• Provide cost and manufacturing data analysis for the business
• Support operations and other facilities as needed
• Additional duties as assigned

Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced Cost Accountant who will report to the Finance Manager based locally and will work with a team. In this role you will support a local accounting/finance structure, working directly with the operations and also helping out with other facilities if needed.

Responsibilities & Requirements:

• BS or BA Degree in relevant field and 3-5 years relevant experience
• Month end reporting
• Perform month end close for Inventory/Purchasing and Accounts Receivable close and reconciliation
• Project accounting - monthly review margins and processing
• Sales and margin analysis
• Processing month end journals accruals/prepayments/recharges
• Reconcile month end bookings
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Standard costing system
• Management and ownership of standard costing system
• Data analysis for cost and manufacturing within the business
• And any other duties assigned

Preferred Experience / Skills:

• Strong Cost Accounting knowledge and experience
• General knowledge of accounting policies
• Proficiency in Excel other MS Office products
• Clear and concise communications skills
• Ability to challenge the norm and look for better solutions/processes
• Systems knowledge: Oracle, BPC, SAPwill be beneficial

The pay range for this role is $68,300.11 - $102,505.33 per year.
