Job summary

Primary Recruiting Services is seeking a Cost Accountant in Milwaukee (with flexibility for Cedar Rapids) to support manufacturing costing and inventory reporting. You will maintain inventory accounts, assist monthly closes, and evaluate COGS while helping management control costs.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Accounting, has at least 2 years cost accounting experience in manufacturing, and may have a CPA or Master's. Strong communication and independence are essential in this role.

Responsibilities

• Maintain inventory accounts and record adjustments.
• Assist monthly close procedures.
• Evaluate COGS and help reduce costs with cost reports for upper management.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to team members.
• Perform inventory accounting and reporting for key product lines.
• Manage costing for multiple facilities.
• Assist in annual and quarterly budgeting.
• Prepare reports for upper management and government entities.
• Assist with annual audit process.
• Detect and resolve accounting issues and deviations for accurate reporting.

Compensation: $85,000-110,000 + 10%

What We're Looking For:

• The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar from an accredited university
• This person should have at least 2 years cost accounting experience in the manufacturing industry
• CPA or Masters in preferred
• Must be a great communicator and be able to work independently

What You'll Be Doing:

• Maintain inventory accounts and create and record all necessary adjustments.
• Assist monthly close procedures.
• Evaluate COGS and help reduce costs, including creating cost reports for upper management
• Provide leadership to other team members including coaching and mentoring.
• Perform inventory accounting and inventory reporting for key product lines
• Managing all costing for multiple facilities
• Assist in the preparation of the annual and quarterly budgets
• Prepare necessary reports for upper management and government entities
• Assist with annual audit process.
• Detect, communicate, and recommend resolutions for accounting issues and problems
• Monitor deviations in the business and the accounting transactions for improved reporting and precision of financials.
