Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Cost Accountant to oversee standard costs, BOMs, and manufacturing variances. You will partner with operations to drive profitability and inventory accuracy while supporting month-end close and budgeting.

Ideal candidates have 3–7+ years in cost accounting within manufacturing, with ERP experience and strong analytical skills. Leadership capability for potential manager-level roles is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
• 3-7+ years of accounting experience, manufacturing/cost accounting preferred.
• Experience with inventory, standard costing, BOMs, and variance analysis required.
• ERP system experience required.
• Prior leadership experience preferred for manager level.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and analyze standard costs, BOMs, labor, and overhead rates.
• Review inventory valuation, cycle counts, and cost variances.
• Analyze manufacturing margins, performance, and trends.
• Partner with plant/operations leadership to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Support month-end close, reconciliations, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Develop reports and KPIs to improve visibility and decision-making.
• Improve cost accounting processes, systems, and controls.
• Supervise or mentor accounting staff as appropriate.

Responsibilities:

• Maintaining and analyzing standard costs, bills of materials, labor, and overhead rates
• Reviewing inventory valuation, cycle counts, and cost variances
• Analyzing manufacturing performance, margins, and operational trends
• Partnering with plant and operations leadership to identify cost-saving opportunities
• Supporting month-end close, account reconciliations, budgeting, and forecasting
• Developing reports and KPIs to improve visibility and decision-making
• Improving cost accounting processes, systems, and internal controls
• Supervising or mentoring accounting staff, depending on experience

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
• CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred

Work Experience:
