Job summary

Precision Recruiting Solutions Group® (PRSG®) in Saint Petersburg, FL, seeks a Cost Accountant to strengthen monthly close, cost reporting, and budgeting in a manufacturing environment.

You will analyze variances, manage standard costing, value inventory, and partner with Operations, Supply Chain, HR, and Sales. Proficiency with ERP systems and BI tools (Power BI/Tableau), advanced Excel, and a BS in Accounting or Finance are required; US citizenship or permanent residency is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• 3+ years cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong cost accounting, inventory accounting, variance analysis, and standard costing.
• Experience with ERP systems; ERP implementation or optimization is a plus.
• Proficiency with Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools.
• Advanced Excel and MS Office skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication across multiple departments.
• Experience with forecasting, financial reporting, and month-end close.
• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly reporting on margins, absorption, and KPIs.
• Prepare fluctuation, variance, and trend analyses.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting.

Job description

• Perform reporting activities throughout the month related to margins, absorption rates, and other key performance metrics to ensure financial accuracy.
• Prepare fluctuation, variance, and trend analyses.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Analyze production and operational costs, identifying overhead variances and cost drivers.
• Prepare cost reports and financial analyses for management.
• Support inventory valuation, cycle counts, physical inventories, and audit activities.
• Maintain an understanding of work-in-process (WIP), finished goods, excess and obsolete inventory, inventory turns, and related costing impacts.
• Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and Sales teams on financial and accounting matters.
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations as part of the month-end close process.
• Ensure proper classification of expenses and adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
• Support monthly financial reporting and consolidation activities.
• Prepare audit schedules and assist with internal and external audits.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial governance requirements.
• Support ERP system implementations, upgrades, and process improvements.
• Translate financial data into operational insights for business leaders.
• Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reporting as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and streamline accounting workflows.
• Perform additional accounting and finance responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Minimum of 3 years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory accounting, variance analysis, and standard costing.
• Experience working with ERP systems; ERP implementation or optimization experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
• Experience with forecasting, financial reporting, and month-end close processes preferred.
