Job summary

Ledgent, Inc. is partnering with a growing manufacturing organization in North Houston to recruit an experienced Cost Accountant.

The role focuses on analyzing costs across manufacturing processes and collaborating with operations, finance, procurement, and engineering to drive meaningful financial insights. The ideal candidate will have 3-5+ years of cost accounting in manufacturing, strong costing knowledge, and proficiency in SAP and Excel.

Job description

We're partnering with a growing manufacturing organization in North Houston to identify an experienced Cost Accountant who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and enjoys collaborating across operations, finance, procurement, and engineering teams.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong manufacturing accounting background who can analyze costs, improve processes, and provide meaningful financial insights that support business decisions.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Analyze and monitor manufacturing costs, inventory, labor, materials, and overhead expenses
• Prepare cost reports, variance analyses, and financial data to support operational decision-making
• Maintain standard costs, bill of materials (BOMs), and product costing within the ERP system
• Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Partner with production, procurement, engineering, and quality teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting
• Assist with inventory counts, audits, and internal controls
• Identify opportunities to improve cost accounting processes, reporting, and system efficiencies
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic cost analysis initiatives

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 3-5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment (required)
• Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory accounting, variance analysis, and product costing
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities
• Experience working with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
• Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across multiple departments

Highly Preferred:

• Experience with SAP
• Fluent/Bilingual in Spanish and English
• CMA certification or progress toward certification
