Core Accountability

To provide Bonnell Industries with accurate, timely, and actionable manufacturing-cost information that directly drives product profitability, inventory accuracy, pricing strategies, operational efficiency, and precise financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities
Product Costing & Margin Analysis
  • Calculate and maintain accurate product costs for manufactured parts, assemblies, finished equipment, service parts, and custom products.
  • Analyze product margins by product line, customer, job, order, and business segment.
  • Review actual manufacturing costs against standard costs and quoted expectations, identifying underperforming areas.
  • Validate cost assumptions used in new-product development, custom-engineered products, and major customer quotations.
  • Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing to review Bills of Material (BOMs) and production routings, ensuring costs reflect current manufacturing requirements and process changes.
Labor, Material & Overhead Cost Analysis
  • Analyze direct labor, direct material, manufacturing overhead, outside processing, and subcontracting costs.
  • Evaluate material usage, scrap, rework, substitutions, purchase-price changes, and overall material yield.
  • Develop, maintain, and refine manufacturing overhead rates and allocation methodologies.
  • Analyze the financial impact of production volume, labor utilization, equipment usage, overtime, and downtime.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to recommend improvements in labor reporting, material consumption tracking, and overhead allocation.
Standard Costing System Management
  • Establish, maintain, and regularly update Bonnell's standard costing system.
  • Coordinate periodic and annual standard-cost rollups for materials, labor, overhead, subcontracting, and outside processing.
  • Review standard-cost changes, maintain supporting documentation, and clearly communicate financial impacts to leadership.
  • Review newly created part numbers and manufactured items to confirm accurate standards are established prior to production or shipment.

  • Ensure all inventory is accurately valued in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies.
  • Reconcile inventory subledgers to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies, negative inventory, or unusual transactions.
  • Support cycle-counting programs, annual physical inventories, and reconciliation activities.
  • Analyze slow-moving, excess, obsolete, and damaged inventory to recommend appropriate reserves and adjustments.
  • Investigate WIP balances and work orders that remain open beyond normal production timeframes.
