Job summary

North Slope Borough School District seeks a CTE Instructor to guide students in basic skills and career pathways per district guidelines and industry standards. Instruction will be individualized, with adjustments for learning styles and pace.

Position is non-benefitted and grant-funded; continuation depends on funds. Collaboration with district leaders, staff, students, families and the community is essential to create an authentic, supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Alaska Teaching certificate with endorsement in a CTE field preferred.
• Minimum of Alaska Type M certification in area of CTE or ability to obtain within timeframe.
• Knowledge and experience with culturally safe and responsive practices preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in trauma-informed practices preferred.
• Positive school climate and restorative practices preferred.
• Inupiaq language, history and culture experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Consult with the Qatqi..iaġvik CTE Director and Manager in program development.
• Create an authentic, consistent, strength-based culturally safe instructional environment.
• Collaborate with staff, students, families and community to set expectations and success criteria.
• Support Grow Your Own career path for middle and high school students.
• Build relationships with North Slope entities to grow the CTE program.
• Promote School District goals as defined in the Strategic Plan.
• Participate in educational committees and organizations for district and program benefit.
• Adhere to ethics and professional teaching standards and safety guidance.
