Job summary

Bright Innovation Laboratories is seeking a chemist in the United States to research and develop innovative cosmetic formulas based on briefs and benchmarks.

You will reverse-engineer products, scale up processes, test materials, and collaborate with QC, QA, Production to ensure top-quality finished goods. This full-time role requires a chemistry degree and at least three years of lab experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Chemistry or related science.
• Must have a minimum of 3 years laboratory experience.
• A minimum of 3 years Product development (Innovation) experience is preferred.
• English language proficiency and strong writing and grammar.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop innovative cosmetic products based on trends, benchmark products, customer brief or other product concepts.
• Reverse-engineer current marketed products.
• Create formulas for new product submissions.
• Assist in testing and approving raw materials, finished and in-process, adjustments & line samples.
• Interface with QC Laboratory, Quality Assurance, Customer Service, Production and other departments to ensure top-quality finished goods.
• Conduct process engineering and scaling up of formulas.
• Enhance and/or modify existing formulas and procedures to fit needs of the company.
• Ensure integrity and quality of customer formulations.
• Troubleshoot production problems.
• Learn newest technologies and ingredients from vendors and seminars.
• Monitor first 3 production batches.
• Meet with customers at the discretion of the R&D Manager and Senior Chemist.
• Research and understand the function of each ingredient within a formula.
• Promote compliance with cGMP and safety training.
