Job summary

Yoh Services LLC is seeking a Cosmetic R&D Chemist in the Los Angeles area to develop and reformulate cosmetic products, staying ahead of market trends with innovative textures and actives.

The role requires a BS or higher in chemistry, 6+ years of bench formulation, and deep knowledge of cosmetic materials, emulsions, and regulatory compliance for the US and international markets. Direct hire with a daytime shift and strong cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or higher in chemistry or related field.
• Color formulation experience.
• Creative thinking, technical writing and organizational skills.
• At least 6 years of bench formulation experience.
• Knowledge of cosmetic/personal care raw materials, functionality and interactions.
• Understanding of emulsion and surfactant technology and general formulation techniques.
• Regulatory familiarity for US market and global formulas, including NSF/USDA-NOP/NPA.

Responsibilities

• Develop new formulas and reverse engineered formulas based on customer briefs and price target.
• Reformulate and improve existing formulas.
• Follow trends with new product launches, ingredients and 'free from' claims.
• Be familiar with formulation restrictions for these claims.
• Maintain cosmetic ingredient knowledge and understand interactions with media/base.
• Meet with suppliers and manage product files (clinical and regulatory).
• Innovate with new textures, concepts, actives to keep R&D at the cutting edge.
• Assist regulatory department with ingredient information.
