Job summary

Clariant SE in New Providence, NJ seeks a Formulation Chemist to support cosmetic formulation development in a hands-on laboratory setting. You will prepare prototypes, evaluate materials, and advance stability studies within a collaborative team.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in a relevant science and 3–7 years of cosmetic formulation experience, with strong documentation and teamwork skills. Onsite, full-time, with competitive salary, PTO, and annual bonus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 3–7 years hands-on experience in a cosmetic/personal care formulation laboratory.
• Knowledge of emulsions, gels, gel-creams, raw material functionality, stability testing, and product evaluation.
• Excellent documentation and organizational skills; able to manage multiple formulation projects and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Support development and customization of cosmetic formulations for skin care, hair care, sun care, and color cosmetics.
• Prepare laboratory batches and prototypes to support formulation development and customer projects.
• Assess raw materials, ingredient functionality, processing parameters, and product performance characteristics.
• Conduct laboratory investigations, troubleshooting, and product optimization with proper documentation.
• Initiate and maintain stability studies per procedures, including sample prep and data collection.
• Maintain accurate formulation records and notebooks within designated systems.
