Job summary

Cosentini Associates, a Tetra Tech company, seeks a mid-level Mechanical Engineer for a hybrid role in New York. You will contribute to building systems design for hospitals, laboratories, high-rise residential and commercial projects, using AutoCAD and Revit to implement complex mechanical systems.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering with 3–7 years of HVAC experience, and is proficient with Trace 700. PE/EIT and LEED credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with 3–7 years of HVAC design experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit for building systems design.
• Experience with design calculations, code compliance, and project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical building design for hospitals, laboratories, high-rise residential and office projects.
• Integrate design changes using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Assist in load calculations, equipment selections and system design.
• Provide LEED and other building-rating documentation support.
• Prepare basis-of-design descriptions and respond to client comments.
• Attend meetings with architects, owners, and managers.
• Review submittals and respond to RFIs.
• Ensure compliance with internal procedures and industry standards.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain technical knowledge.
• Adhere to health and safety practices; travel as needed.

Your Role:

• Performing complex mechanical building design on a variety of projects to include, but not limited to, buildings and facilities, including hospitals, laboratories, high rise residential and high-rise office, and other commercialand institutional projects.
• Incorporating design changes using AutoCAD and/or Revit software
• Assist teams in performing design load calculations, equipment selections and mechanical system design
• Providing credit documentation for LEED, and other building rating system design and compliance
• Assisting in the preparation of basis-of-design descriptions, responses to client comments and other project-related documentation.
• Attend meetings with architects, owners and building managers.
• Reviewing submittals and providing responses to Requests for Information
• Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
• Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
• Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
• Additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 3-7 years of experience in the design of HVAC systems for commercial, institutional, residential, and healthcare facilities.
• Proficient with the use of Trace 700, AutoCAD and Revit software.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
• Excellent technical skills, strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
• Comprehensive knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and in a highly collaborative team environment
• PE registration is highly preferred in New York, or EIT with the ability to obtain a P.E. in 1-2 years.
• LEED AP BD+C accreditation is preferred
• Willingness and ability to travel as needed.

Compensation: Pay commensurate with experience. Pay Range: $75,000 – $115,000/yr
